For Students: Mental Wellness & Vaping Prevention

Unlocking the Hero Within:Ā Building Mental Wellness & Resilience

Using the struggles of heroes in popular stories as a conversation starter, Joshua teaches students a practical framework for building mental wellness and navigating the challenges they face.

Through personal stories, humor, and actionable tools, students learn three key principles to build their power and move their lives forward:

  1. Be Your Own Ally - Stop being your own worst critic and start having your own back
  2. Figure Out What You Want - Take responsibility for getting there and move forward with intention instead of staying stuck
  3. Decide What Kind of Person You Want to Be - Choose kindness and character even when it is hard

Learning Outcomes:

Students will:

  • Understand they are not alone and have practical tools to handle any challengeĀ
  • Learn to be their own ally instead of their own worst criticĀ
  • Take responsibility for their choices and their futureĀ
  • Keep moving forward even when stuck or confusedĀ
  • Resist peer pressure and make confident decisionsĀ
  • Evaluate every choice using the "build power vs. drain power" framework
The Truth About Vaping: Empowering Students with the Knowledge & Confidence to Say No

Vaping among teens has reached epidemic levels, yet most students have no idea what they're getting into when they start. Using the Hero's Journey framework from his book Unlocking the Hero Within, Joshua Wayne gives students the tools to think critically, resist peer pressure, and make healthy choices before addiction takes hold.

This is not a lecture or scare tactic - it is a real conversation that treats students with respect while giving them the facts and confidence to make informed decisions.

For Educators & Caring Adults: Professional Development & Resilience

Building Thriving, Resilient Teens: How to Be the Guide They NeedĀ

Every young person is on a hero's journey - figuring out who they are, what they want, and what kind of adult they will become. But no hero makes it alone. They need guides: the trusted adults who help them navigate challenges and unlock their potential.

In this keynote, Joshua Wayne shares his Hero & Guide Framework - a practical system for becoming one of the voices young people listen to as they're navigating toward adulthood.Ā

Drawing on 25+ years working with teens in foster care, schools, juvenile justice, and private practice, Joshua shares three keys to help them be their own ally, take responsibility, and keep moving forward.

You'll learn proven strategies for connecting with resistant kids, breaking through when it matters, and staying in their inner circle of trusted advisors long-term.

But here's the twist: Joshua will also apply the same framework to YOU - helping you sustain resilience, avoid burnout, and stay grounded in demanding work.

Whether you're a school counselor, teacher, administrator, or caring adult, you'll leave with practical tools for guiding young heroes without losing yourself in the process.
